BRITTANY TOUR
Brittany, a region of dramatic coastlines and medieval towns alongside thick forests.

1° day PARIS – FONTAINEBLEAU

Welcome to Paris! Transfer to the hotel in Fontainebleau.  In the evening, meet your travel director of the tour. Dinner and overnight.

2° day FONTAINEBLEAU – CHARTRES – RENNES

Hotel breakfast and leave for Chartres. Visit of the Notre-Dame de Chartres Cathedral, which is considered one of the finest and best preserved Gothic cathedrals in France and in Europe. Its historical and cultural importance has been recognized by its listings on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Continue to Rennes, the capital of the Brittany. Lunch at your leisure. Upon the arrival guided tour of city. Hotel check-in. Dinner at your leisure and overnight.

3° day RENNES – MONT SAINT MICHEL – CANCALE – SAINT MALO – RENNES

Hotel breakfast and departure for Mont Saint Michel, magnificent Benedictine monastery that is located on a rocky island in the middle of an open bay, invaded by the highest tides in Europe. No wonder the Mont Saint Michel is called the “Wonder of the Western World”. Mont Saint-Michel and its bay are on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Lunch at your leisure and time at disposal. We continue to Cote d’Emeraude (Emerald Coast) with stopping at the port of Cancale, a small fishing village famous for the wild oysters. Arrival to a port city of Saint Malo. Traditionally with an independent streak, Saint-Malo was in the past notorious for privateering (the "cité corsaire"). Start the guided tour Old Town or Intra-Muros ("within the walls"), which was originally built on a rocky island at the mouth of the Rance estuary. In the evening, return to Rennes. Dinner at your leisure. Overnight.

4° day RENNES – PINK GRANITE COAST – CALVARY – QUIMPER

Hotel breakfast and leave for the “Pink Granite Coast”. It is so-called because of the colour of its rocks. It is one of the most beautiful stretches of Brittany’s coastline. The area is renowned for its unusual rock formations. Stop by the famous Lighthouses in Ploumanach, and in Tregastel and Perros-Guirec. Then we will reach Finistere, the westernmost region of France, counting for almost a quarter of the entire Brittany coastline. The abers, rugged fjord-like inlets on the north coast, are a notable feature of the landscape. We will proceed to the Calvary Region, where the late middle-age church complexes are still well preserved. Lunch at your leisure and continue to Quimper, the ancient capital of La Cornouaille, Brittany’s most traditional region with a very distinctive Breton character. Hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.

5° day QUIMPER – CONCARNEAU- CARNAC- VANNES

Hotel breakfast and guided city tour of Quimper and its majestic Cathedral St. Corentin. Quimper is also well known for the production of tin-glazed, hand-painted pottery since the late seventeenth century.  Continue to Concarneau, with its two distinct areas: the modern town on the mainland and the medieval Ville Close, a walled town on a long island in the center of the harbour. Historically, the old town was a center of shipbuilding. Lunch at your leisure and time to walk around the Ville Close. In the afternoon, head to Carnac, renowned for the Carnac stones – one of the most extensive Neolithic menhir collections in the world – as well as its beaches, which are popular with tourists all over the world. Stop by the Carnac Stones and then continue to Vannes, one of the loveliest medieval towns of Brittany. Hotel check in, dinner and overnight.

6° day VANNES – VITRE – FONTAINEBLEAU

Hotel breakfast and leave for Fontainebleu, after a brief stop at the fortified town of Vitrè. Located 55 kilometres from the centre of Paris, Fontainebleau is one of the largest French royal châteaux. The palace as it is today is the work of many French monarchs, building on an early 16th-century structure of Francis I, and it is arranged around a series of courtyards. Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte then transformed the Château into a symbol of his grandeur, as an alternative to the empty Palace of Versailles, with its Bourbon connotations. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

7° day FONTANEBLEAU - PARIS

Hotel breakfast and transfer to Paris in time to catch your flight. End of services.
